Tactical Half Checkered with border

Dymondwood Laminate grips are hardwoods laminated using phenolic resins, heat and pressure to create a dense and strong material. The wood veneers are vacuum impregnated with advanced penetrating dyes to create vibrant colors.

These grips are cut with a sharp tactical half checkering at 20 lines per inch with a smooth border surrounding the checkering. The grips are shaped in the traditional 1911 style with the top of the left side panel slightly covering the plunger tube.

These grips are built with a typical 1911 thickness that fully fits the hand without being overly thick. Grip thickness runs between .255" and .265" thick at the center of the grip.

Grips are available with or without an ambidextrous safety cut. If you're unsure whether you need an ambi cut, click the link on the left side of the page to learn more about the ambi cut.

These grips are available in multiple configurations. Ordering options are include:
  • Standard Beveled Bottom of the grip (shown in photo)
  • Square Bottom Magwell grips - Continuous Profile (Profile A)
  • Square Bottom Magwell grips - With Flat Center Profile (Profile B)
  • Bobtail - For 1911s modified with the Ed Brown Bobtail Mainspring Housing (All Bobtails)

The Square Bottom Magwell grips are being built with two different profiles to better match the typical shape of most of the magwells available. The Continuous Profile is a constant arc across the top of the grip panel from the front edge to the back edge. This style is similar to the profile of the Smith & Alexander, Springfield Armory and numerous other magwell makers. The Flat Center Profile has arches that rise up to the top of the grip from both the front and back edge and then have a flat section about 1/2" wide in the center of the grip panel. This profile is similar to magwells by Ed Brown and Kimber. If you have a magwell built by a manufacturer other than listed, check your magwell to see if it is a constant arc or if the magwell has a flat spot in the center of the grip panel top.

The Bobtail grips have bevels on the bottom and cover the mainspring housing pin. A relief cut is made on the back of the grip panels for the raised head of the pin.

The Wilson Combat magwells are typically a narrower magwell and we recommend using a standard beveled grip panel with Wilson Combat magwells.

Also available with the mainspring housing pin covered!

We've added an option to the ordering to allow you to have the mainspring housing pin covered. This removes the rounded cutout on the bottom rear corner of the grips. We do provide a relief in the back of the grips to clear the rounded head of the mainspring housing pin that normally extends beyond the surface of the frame. This option does not apply to Bobtail grips as all of the bobtail grips cover the mainspring housing pin.

Please note that we do not stock all of these grip options at this time and may need to build the grips to fill your order. We can typically fill these orders within 5 to 7 business days.

Our smooth grips are sanded and buffed smooth. No finish is applied to the grips as the Dymondwood polishes to a shine and makes the material very water and oil resistant without any added finish. Our checkered grips are all cnc cut checkering with a phenolic finish is applied over the checkered areas. Our checkering is cut at 20 lines per inch.

These are production grips so the grips you receive will not be the individual pair shown in the photo. Our photos represent the type and general character of the material but due to variances in the material colors and layer thicknesses, the visual appearance of the grips may be different. Also note that colors shown of computer monitors can vary greatly, affecting the representative colors. We do have a liberal return policy and can often help to select materials that will have the colors you'd like.
